Fuel shortage in Egypt

Traffic in Egypt’s capital has ground to a halt, thanks to a major gas shortage.

Cars are lining up down the streets waiting for fuel, while the government blames the shortage on the black market trade.

The shortage isn’t the first of the year. Fuel shortages have plagued Egypt multiple times, making citizens question whether the government is to blame.

Opponents of President Mohamed Morsi say the leader is hoarding fuel for his Muslim brotherhood. Massive protests against Morsi are planned for this Sunday, but protestors worry he’s trying to foil the demonstrations with a gas crisis.
