Four charged in attack on relatives of murder victim Cece Luppino

Hamilton police say four people from Montreal have been charged with attempted murder in connection with a 2018 attack on two relatives of murder victim Cece Luppino.
The attack happened at a home on Hamilton Mountain on April 19, 2018.
Police say three men forced their way inside the home and stabbed one of two residents who were inside.
The other resident managed to fight off the attackers and ran to a neighbouring home to seek help. Police say the trio fled the scene in two vehicles, one of which was being driven by a woman.
The stabbing victim was taken to hospital where he was treated and then released. Both victims provided little information to police and the case was concluded in the summer of 2018. Hamilton police say the victims were relatives of Luppino who was gunned down on Jan. 30, 2019 inside a home owned by his parents, Rocco and Helen. The Luppino name has long been connected with organized crime, and experts say Rocco Luppino is a big player in the mafia.

The investigation into the stabbing was reopened in December 2018 after Hamilton police received new information from Peel and Toronto police forces. Police say the information led to four people being identified as suspects in the attack.
Last month, Hamilton police officers traveled to Montreal and, with the help of the Montreal Police Service and Quebec provincial police, arrested Marc Monette, 53, and Martine Villeneuve, 27.
Monette and Villeneuve were transported back to Hamilton and have been remanded into custody.
Monette’s 24-year-old son, Jonathan, and 29-year-old Charles Olivier Boucher-Savard, were also identified as suspects in the attack but were already in custody pending charges on an unrelated matter.
Police say the accused appeared in court Wednesday morning and have been charged with attempted murder, break, enter, and commit an indictable offence, and aggravated assault.
Anyone with further information that could help police with the investigation is asked to contact Det. Cst. Kevin Heyink or Det. Sgt. Peter Thom at 905-546-2458.
