Two more bodies have been recovered from the scene of a house fire in Oshawa, bringing the death toll to four.

Durham regional police say the bodies were discovered on Tuesday — a day after the fire.

Authorities say five people made it out of the century-old row home after the fire broke out around 1 a.m. Monday.

Police say the major crime unit will lead the investigation into the fire and will continue to work with the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal.

Investigators say police are working to confirm the identities of the four dead.

Family and friends say they believe two children and two men did not escape the fire.
