‘Foul play’ suspected in woman’s disappearance: Hamilton police

Hamilton police are appealing for information about the disappearance of a woman who went missing one year ago.
Monica Chisar was last seen by a friend on July 11, 2018, in the area of Barton St. East and Parkdale Ave. North in Hamilton. Her family reported her missing to police on September 28, 2018.
“An overall analysis of the disappearance of Monica Chisar has led investigators to believe that the possibility of foul play exists,” said Hamilton police in a news release. “However, it remains a possibility that Monica is alive and has simply chosen to disappear for reasons only known to her.”
Back in November 2018, police said Chisar had gone missing in the past but always maintained contact with her family through social media. She has not reached out online during this disappearance which has caused her family and police to be concerned for her well-being.
Investigators say Chisar didn’t have much history in Hamilton but had a “wide circle of associates” across the GTA. “It is also believed that she had a connection to Kitchener, which is also of interest to us,” said police.
Chisar is described as being five-foot-seven, 170 lbs, with green eyes and shoulder-length red and brown hair. She has a small star tattoo on the left side of her neck, a crown on her left wrist and “Ethan” and “I love my daddy FC” on her upper back.
Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact Det. Sgt. Dave Oleniuk at 905-546-3829.
