Fort Erie fire leaves family of 8 homeless

A family of 8 is homeless after an early morning fire ripped through their Fort Erie home and while everyone managed to get out safely.
Fire crews were called to the intersection of Dominion Road and Ridge Road just after 2am on Thursday.
47 firefighters were dispatched from four stations to fight the stubborn fire, which took over an hour for crews to control.
While the cause of the fire is still under investigation. fire officials say the fire started on the porch before moving to the rest of the house.
All that remained of the porch were burnt out steps and charred support posts.
The fire is being treated as accidental. There were 8 people inside at the time. 2 adults and 6 children, who were all under the age of 11.
Fire officials say the family is living in Niagara Falls with family.
It’s not clear if the house will be torn down or rebuilt. Damage is estimated at 175 thousand dollars.
