Former pro weightlifter charged in historic Hamilton sexual assaults

Hamilton police have arrested and charged a 65-year-old man after an investigation into reports of sexual assault between 1982 and 1984.

Peterborough police shared a media release in January after they arrested Gary Bratty of Woodstock for sexual offences involving young boys.

As a result, two more victims came forward to Hamilton police and made a report.

On March 31, Bratty was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual assault and two counts of gross indecency.

Bratty is scheduled to appear in court on May 2.

At the time of the assaults, Bratty was a professional weightlifter and trained youth throughout Hamilton. He was also associated with Big Brothers of Hamilton and has worked in correctional facilities in the Toronto, Peterborough and Ottawa areas.

Hamilton police believe that there may be more victims.
