Forensic unit investigating after 2 people found dead at St. Catharines home

Niagara police’s forensic unit is investigating after two people were found dead at a home in St. Catharines on Monday.

Officers were called to 47 Elma St. during the morning hours and discovered two people without vital signs when they arrived.

Police have not yet confirmed the identities of the two bodies found, and they also have not released the cause of death.

Neighbours say they’ve known the people living at the home for more than 10 years.

They describe them as loving and caring and say they are devastated by this incident.

“I went on a walk with him yesterday with the dogs, it’s just crazy, great people, it’s just a shock,” one neighbour said.

“They are incredibly generous and sweet and kind, they are wonderful people, it feels awful, it feels out of place and grotesque,” another neighbour said.

Family members were seen approaching the scene, and they were distraught when speaking to police.

Police say this investigation is still in its early stages, with detectives from the homicide unit assigned.
