Mayor Rob Ford says he wants to keep working for the people of Toronto.

Today the mayor told his weekly radio show that he’s not perfect, but he can’t change what has happened in the past. Ford apologized to both his family, and the citizens of Toronto, but he did not directly address the drug allegations against him.

“I’m the first one to admit I’m not perfect. I have made mistakes. I have made mistakes and all I can do right now is apologize for the mistakes. I sincerely, sincerely apologize to my family, to the citizens, the taxpayers of his great city and to my colleague. Unfortunately I cannot change the past. I can just move forward and learn from the past, which I assure you, I am doing. I love the city. I absolutely adore the people of the city, and I love helping people when they call me and I go to their front door and help them. I want to move forward.”

When asked about the alleged video where he appears to be smoking crack cocaine, Ford said he can’t comment because he hasn’t seen it.

Around halfway through the radio show, Ford did clarify what he was apologizing for, saying he had shown drunken behaviour in the past.

The mayor was accused of being intoxicated while at the Taste of the Danforth this year, and also on St. Patrick’s day last year.

Despite Ford’s efforts today, some people in Toronto still aren’t satisfied with the apology, and want him to step aside as mayor.

Ford left the station quickly and didn’t stop to talk to reporters, but during the show he did say that he’ll be running in next year’s election.

He is also calling for Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair to release the video and let the public make their own conclusions.

He says if that happens he’ll hold a news conference to explain it.
