Environment Canada has issued a fog advisory for Hamilton and some parts of the surrounding area.

The federal meteorological agency says that conditions will improve later this morning but is warning residents that travel could be hazardous due to reduced visibility.

“If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop,” the advisory issued Monday morning said.

Additionally, Hamilton police took to social media to reiterate the same warning but included several additional steps drivers can take to mitigate the danger.

They say reducing speed, using your low-beam headlights and increasing your following distance are just some ways to navigate thick fog safely.

No fog related incidents have been reported on the road throughout the region and traffic is flowing normally.
