Flamborough gets new potato packing plant
Some good news for Ontario potato farmers was announced Wednesday.
The province is investing almost half-a-million dollars that’ll go towards a potato washing, packing, and distribution facility in Flamborough.
The 40-thousand square foot facility for Earth Fresh Foods will more than double the company’s processing capacity, and create at least 44 new jobs.
Local MPP Ted McMeekin was at the future site of the facility today to explain what else that money will mean.
“Newer, more efficient technology will mean significant significantly lower production costs, which is always good when you’re in business. And will help the company new specialty products to the North American marketplace.”
The new facility will be able to produce about 312,000 pounds of potatoes per day.
