Hamilton’s FirstOntario Centre will now be accepting walk-ins for people wanting to get their second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

The city of Hamilton says anyone 12 years of age and older can attend the arena at the corner of Bay St. North and York Blvd. to receive their second dose.

The vaccine clinic will continue to offer walk-ins for first doses and booked appointments for first and second doses.

The clinic is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Hamilton health officials say upwards of 75.3 per cent of residents over the age of 18 have received a vaccine with 55.4 per cent having completed their vaccine series. In addition, 62 per cent of youth ages 12-17 have received a first dose and 25.2 have completed their vaccine series.

The Pfizer vaccine is currently the only COVID-19 vaccine that has been authorized by Health Canada for use in individuals aged 12 and over.
