A funeral will be held next week for the Niagara firefighter who died trying to save his dog.

48-year old Tim Vail, a 20-year veteran of the Niagara falls Fire Department, was walking his dog Tuesday afternoon in Vineland.

It’s believed the animal became trapped in some sort of well, and Vail died trying to rescue it. The coroner has ruled out foul play.

His funeral will be held at St. Catharines’ Southridge Community Church on Glenridge Avenue next Thursday at 1pm.
