Firefighter battle blaze overnight in St. Catharines

It took St. Catharines Fire and Emergency Services seven-hours to contain an overnight fire at the Industry Hose and Hydraulics building on Cushman road.
Crews were dispatched shortly after 10:00 p.m. due to a remote alarm being activated. When they arrived there was a large scale fire with visible flames and heavy smoke coming from the left side of the building. Six trucks were called to the scene and the heavy smoke made it difficult for firefighters to enter the building.
Crews also had to evacuate the homes to the north east of the building due to the smoke’s thickness.
St. Catharines fire is saying nobody was injured in the blaze. The fire marshal is currently on scene and investigating the cause.
