Fire at site of Wainfleet legal grow op

An overnight fire has destroyed a home on the property of a registered marijuana grow operation in Wainfleet.

Firefighters were called to the rural property on Shafley Rd near Highway 3 just after 3:30 this morning to find the building fully engulfed in flames.

The property is surrounded by a high security fence which slowed fire crews from entering. Another obstacle was several large guard dogs inside the fenced area.

Both Niagara and firefighters are investigating the cause. There is no estimate of damage yet; no one was hurt.
