Fire on roof of Hamilton’s Royal Connaught

Hamilton firefighters responded to a small fire at the former Royal Connaught hotel this morning.

The fire broke out on the roof of the building, but construction workers were able to put it out before crews arrived.

No one was injured and there was no damage to the building. Several streets in the area were closed briefly.

The former hotel is in the process of being converted into condominiums.
