Fire marshal deems Kitchener house explosion criminal in nature

The Ontario’s Office of the Fire Marshal has declared a house explosion in Kitchener Wednesday night criminal in nature.

The fire marshal made the decision after two adults and two children were injured in an explosion inside a home in the area of Elm Ridge Dr. and Queen’s Blvd. around 11:40 p.m.

Waterloo Regional Police say a man and woman with serious injuries were sent to an out-of-region hospital and remained there as of Thursday night.

Police say two children with minor injuries have since been released from hospital.

Investigators say the explosion came from inside the home and also caused significant structural damage to neighbouring units.
