Fire jolts high-rise residents from bed

Fire forced the evacuation of a high-rise apartment building in St Catharines this morning.

Thick black smoke was pouring out of one of the windows in the building on 70 Roehampton Drive. The fire started in a unit on the fourth floor. Tenants say there was a fire in that same unit not too long ago, adding there have been several fires in the building over the past year.

There’s no word what sparked the blaze; no one was hurt.
