A Caledonia home has been completely destroyed after a fire ripped through the two-storey house late Tuesday.

Emergency crews were called to a house on Kinross St. around 8:12 p.m. Firefighters arrived to find the home completely engulfed in flames.

Haldimand County Fire Services used aerial equipment to extinguish the blaze.

All of the residents managed to get out safely but a 54-year-old man was taken to hospital as a precaution for smoke inhalation.

Officials say the fire started in the attached garage before spreading to the home, causing roughly $800,000 in damages. Two neighbouring homes also sustained damage.

The fire has been deemed not suspicious.

Kinross St. was closed between Braemar Ave. and Thistlemore Dr. for approximately two hours while emergency crews were on scene but has since reopened.
