Fire has destroyed a million dollar home in Carlise overnight, and the cause is that freezing rain.

At around 12:30 this morning 40 firefighters from six different fire stations were called to the home on Concession Road 8 East. When they arrived the house was engulfed in flames.

Most of the damage took place towards the back of the house, where the second floor fell into the first, and part of the first floor is into the basement.

The fire marshal has determined that the generator at the back of the house, which was on due to the power being out from the ice storm, sparked the fire.

Everyone staying in the house made it out safe. Damage is estimated at $1.3 million.

Concession 8 East is closed from Centre Road to Green Springs Road until at least noon today, as firefighters continue to put out hotspots.
