Fire damages Milton townhomes

A fire has left a row of Milton town homes badly damaged.
Fire crews were called to a unit on Hampshire Way around 9 pm, but by the time they arrived, the flames had spread from the garage where it started to the residence, and as many as three other townhouse units.
The owner of the first town home and his son were inside and discovered the fire when they smelled smoke and opened the door to the garage.
The homeowner was checked out by paramedics after trying to remove several propane tanks from the garage but didn’t require any treatment.
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation. The preliminary estimate of damage is over $400,000.
Fire crews remained overnight to make sure there weren’t any flare-ups.
