The St. Catharines Fire and Emergency Services arrived to the scene shortly after 6 p.m. at 1 Doncaster Blvd. on Wednesday.

Firefighters made an aggressive entry to search the house and they removed a woman without vital signs. Emergency attendants performed CPR in which they revived the woman.

She was taken to hospital in critical condition.

The Ontario Fire Marshalls Office will be at the home on Thursday to investigate the incident.

There is no word yet on the cause of the fire, but the deputy chief says it looks like the fire started outside, and damages to the house were severe.
