Fire at recently closed church

There is extensive damage after an early morning fire in a church in St. Catharines.

Firefighters were called to Carleton United Church on Carleton Street near Bunting Road just after 3 a.m.

They found flames coming through the roof.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.  The Ontario Fire Marshal has been advised of the fire.

A Facebook page for Carleton United Church says it closed in June.  The building is currently for sale.

Damage is estimated to be at least $250,000.
