Female struck and killed on the QEW near Centennial Parkway

A 24-year-old woman from Stoney Creek has been killed on the QEW at Centennial Parkway after police say she was hit while standing on the highway.

The OPP say just before 7, a woman involved in a two-vehicle collision got out of her car to speak with the other driver when a third vehicle swerved to avoid the collision but ended up hitting the woman and killing her.

Police have shut down all Niagara-bound lanes of the QEW and two Toronto-bound lanes.

Police say the roads were snow-covered and slick and that played a role in the crash.
