Felicien retires to join CHCH in second career

Perdita Felicien, the Canadian Olympian and two-time World Champion hurdler, announced her retirement Thursday.

Felicien announced her decision at an afternoon news conference. The 33-year-old says she plans to pursue a second career, this time in journalism. Felicien said she felt the time had come to move on from hurdling: “I think now was the time to retire. A lot of athletes don’t have a 13-year career. They might have a four year cycle. They might have a 6 year career. I had a 13-year long career. I’m proud of that, but it was time. I started to feel a little bit of the nicks in my body creep up and the tiger inside, instead of roaring, started to purr. So I knew I had to bow out gracefully.”

Felicien’s decision will have an impact here at CHCH. She’ll be joining us as a news video-journalist at the end of November. We’re looking forward to her joining our team.
