Feds to fund MS liberation therapy trial
Ottawa has decided to fund clinical trials of the controversial therapy for multiple sclerosis.
Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq says the federal government has been under pressure for more than a year to support nationwide clinical trials.
The controversial and unproven treatment known as liberation therapy is not approved in Canada.
Patients who want it have to travel to other countries and pay thousands of dollars for the procedure.
It involves widening constricted neck veins to improve blood flow from the brain.
