Federal, local efforts underway to help Pakistan after devastating floods

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addressed the devastating floods in Pakistan today after the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres said the Pakistani people are facing “a monsoon on steroids.”

The head of the United Nations is also calling on nations around the world to raise $160 million to help Pakistan recover.

Locally, the Hamilton Mosque has a fundraising campaign launching on Friday and the donations will go directly to aid agencies in Pakistan.

Trudeau announced today that Canada has donated an additional $5 million in emergency assistance and humanitarian aid.
