Federal government scrambling to resolve passport office crisis

The federal government was scrambling today to resolve its crisis at passport offices across the country.
Some people have lined up for hours, even overnight at Service Canada locations. The government is struggling to keep up with the demand for passports with travel reopening following COVID-19.
Today the government brought in a new plan where the lines would be streamlined into those who need passports quickly for trips that are booked and those who can come back another time.
CHCH News spoke with people waiting at a Service Canada location today. There were some people saying they paid extra to expedite their passport applications but wound up waiting in frustration like everybody else.
