Update: A post-mortem has revealed that the man who crashed into a tree died of hypothermia, not as a result of an injury.

A Toronto man is dead after he struck a tree in Flamborough Tuesday morning.

Police say the man was headed east on Patrick road at Sager road at around 8 am, when he went into a ditch and struck a tree. He was found without vital signs and was pronounced dead at Brantford General hospital.

Police say conditions were icy and the crash appears to be weather-related. They are not releasing the 77-year-old man’s name, at the family’s request.
