Fatal fire in central Hamilton

One person is dead, after a fatal fire in central Hamilton this evening. It happened at a two-storey building on Mary Street. Crews were called to the scene at around 5:20 when they arrived, they saw heavy smoke coming from an apartment on the second floor of the building, and were told that someone was still inside the unit. Firefighters say they located a deceased person inside the building. The fire marshall has been called in, and the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
