Fatal crash in Oakville

A 40-year-old man is dead after a crash on Third Line in Oakville.

It happened just after one yesterday afternoon near Abbeywood – which is just north of the QEW. The man was driving northbound when he lost control of the vehicle, striking a minivan from behind which then hit a third vehicle.

The man driving a silver hatchback died after he was taken to hospital. The 48-year-old Woodbridge woman driving the van was also taken to hospital, but is going to be okay.

The crash closed Third Line in both directions for just over two hours. Police say speed and alcohol were not factors in the collision.

At the request of the family, the name of the deceased will not be released.
