Fatal collision in Whitby

A 30-year old man has died as a result of a head-on collision in Whitby Friday night.

Officers from Durham Regional Police responded to a call of a head-on collision at Lakeridge Road south of Rossland Road.

A 1999 Mercury Cougar, driven by a 30-year old man from Whitby, was travelling northbound on Lakeridge Rd south of Rossland Road when it crossed the centre line and collided head-on with a GMC Sierra driven by a 50-year old man.

The driver of the GMC Sierra was transported to hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Mercury Cougar was pronounced dead at the scene.
