Tonight could be the Blue Jays’ final game in the American league division series. After 2 losses the Jays are playing Texas, and if they don’t win, that’s strike 3 and they are out, and this is making fans anxious.
“Not going to stop rooting for them, so I hope they can get some wins in there.”
But tensions between the Jay’s and tonight’s rivals started on Friday with a tweet from the Arlington Parks Department in Texas. They tweeted out to the city of Toronto, “celebrating the Rangers with a freshly painted logo in our parks.”
Well, Toronto won’t be outdone. They’ve plastered a massive logo in Canoe Landing Park to show their love for their home team.
“Thank you for this challenge. You’ve poked the bear. Toronto, we’re relatively passive but you’ve not only affected Toronto you’ve affected all of Canada.” said Ed Fearon, City of Toronto.
It’s a 24 hour job, but worth the effort.
“Usually about a 3 day project and we’re doing it in about 24 hours. I hope it gives to everybody and they win tonight.” said Brent Baker, Co- owner of Simplistic Lines.
People who live in the apartments above the park think it’s a great idea.
Local Toronto fans are eager for tonight, but support for the Jay’s is coast to coast. It’s not just Toronto’s team, but the country’s team, hopeful for a win
The game will be broadcast in Nathan Phillip’s Square in Toronto, for the third time. Now the last game, hundreds showed up to watch and with the game in Texas tonight, they’re expecting big crowds.
Eyes across the country will be on the Jay’s tonight, confident in their team.
When we were speaking with fans today they spoke about a “Taylor Swift” curse going around, that wherever she has a concert has turned into a losing streak for baseball teams in cities like Houston, San Diego, Washington and of course Toronto. So some fans were saying they hope Taylor Swift heads down to Texas tonight to give the Blue Jays a bit of luck.
