Family visits to long-term care homes, retirement homes to resume beginning June 18

Starting June 18th, family members will be able to visit seniors in long-term care homes, retirement homes and group homes that do not have outbreaks. Strict guidelines and restrictions will be in place.

Long-term health minister Merrilee Fullerton says this is now possible because infection rates have stabilized. However, Premier Ford says these places are still very vulnerable, so we must remain vigilant.

It was only three weeks ago that the Canadian Armed Forces reported horrible conditions in several homes, prompting the province to take over management. Minister Fullerton says the situation is improving.
