Family left homeless after fire
A family of six narrowly escaped a fire in their two-storey Niagara-on-the-Lake home Saturday morning that caused more than $500,000 worth of damages.
The family was awoken around 4 am in their house on Confederation Drive by the smoke detectors.
The fire caused extensive damage to the home, leaving the family homeless this Easter long weekend.
Emergency crews responded to the blaze at about 4:30 and it took 34 firefighters about two hours to get control of the fire.
