Falling rocks and debris force closure of Sherman Access

Falling rocks and other debris from the escarpment have forced the closure of the east leg of the Sherman Access.

Hamilton police say they were called to the area just before midnight Saturday after receiving a complaint of “boulders falling from the escarpment.”

Following an assessment, the area was deemed to be “insecure and unsafe for vehicular traffic,” police said in a news release.

Police say the roadway is currently closed in both directions from the bottom of the Sherman Cut to the Kenilworth Access and will be closed until further notice.

The Sherman Cut is still open.
