Fallen Ontario police officers remembered
Police officers from across Ontario gathered on Sunday to honour their fallen colleagues.
Police pipe bands marched around Queen’s Park toward the Ontario Police Memorial, where 253 names are inscribed on a monument.
This year, 26-year old Guelph Constable Jennifer Kovach’s name was added to the memorial wall, alongside Cobourg Constable William Rourke.
Kovach died in March, after her cruiser crashed into a bus while she was responding to a fellow officer’s request for assistance.
Rourke was a 22-year veteran of the Cobourg Police and died back in 1915.
