Fallen Hamilton soldier’s flag returned to mother

On Monday CHCH News brought you the story of the mother of a Hamilton solider who died in Afghanistan who had her Canadian flag stolen from her front porch.
We are happy to report today the flag has been returned. Bev McCraw called CHCH today with the news.
She doesn’t know who took it, or who brought it back – but she’s relieved. Her son was killed in 2008 after serving his country for 15 years.
He had a wife and three little girls.
McCraw spent hours searching around her Mohawk College neighbourhood since the theft over the weekend. She thinks students may have stolen it, not realizing its importance.
She’s just happy to have it back.
Editor’s Note: An earlier version of this post noted it was the flag that had draped Sgt Eades’ coffin. It was not. CHCH News regrets the error.
