Fake Currency

Retailers and consumers in the Hamilton area are being urged to pay close attention to their paper money.

Police say a number of phony 100-dollar bills have made the rounds in recent weeks.

Each bill was from the 1988 series.

To check if they’re real, touch the raised surfaces, tilt the bill and look for the changing colours and images.

Also, look at and through the bill for a watermark, a see-through number 100 and woven security thread.
