Hamilton police warn residents after ‘fake cop’ pulls woman over

A young woman is detailing the frightening moment she was pulled over by a fake cop on the Hamilton mountain and told to “get out of her car”.
It happened on Scenic drive around 10:30 Thursday night. Victoria Parsons was leaving Lavender drive near Olympic park when she noticed a white Hyundia believed to be a 2005 to 2010 Sonata waiting in a parking lot by Mohawk road.
When she passed him travelling north on Scenic drive, the man pulled out and began to follow. She was followed for more than 3 kilometers when she reached a stop sign the man turned on a red flashing light and began honking his horn to get her to pull over.
It was pouring rain and Victoria opened her window slightly to talk with him. “I asked him why I have to get out of the car and he said because he is the officer and that he is in charge.”
Knowing that something wasn’t right she asked to see his badge. “He said I am the officer, get out of the damn car. At this point I was like this is not happening, this is not happening at all.”
When Victoria began rolling up her window he put his hand on the window and tried pushing it back down. The 20 year old drove away as fast as she could, the man ran back to his car but chose not to follow her.
Victoria went home and called 911 immediately.
“Usually our unmarked officers will call for a uniform patrol officer if they want to stop a car they were following for an investigation or any reason.” Claus Wagner, Hamilton police.
If you fear you’re being pulled over by a fake cop police say to call 911.
“Dispatch will be able to tell you right away and at that point we can get our cars on the way to come and help you.”
The man is described as being in his mid 30’s, shaved face, short hair, dark eyes, crooked teeth and had a deep voice. He was wearing all black.
Hamilton police say in 2016 there were two cases where a fake cop pulled over women. No arrests have been made in those situations or the one last week.
