Explosion in Hamilton apartment building

Hamilton police are still looking into a new year’s eve explosion at an apartment building.

It happened in a 5th floor unit at 129 Bold Street just before eight Saturday night.

No one was inside the apartment at the time of the explosion, but a police officer was treated for smoke inhalation.

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office and the Hamilton Police arson squad are investigating.

Damage is estimated at $25,000.
