Halton police spent the first few days of the week in a blitz to catch drivers committing the top four sins they see on our roadways. By Wednesday, officers handed out 238 offence notices. But what they collected may be even more valuable: driver excuses.

“I guess there isn’t enough crime to keep you busy”

“You’re a f……….. liar”

“Please, we are very late for the train”

“I’m speeding because I have an infection and I’m on my way to Shoppers to pick up the medication”

All excuses that police documented this week and decided to share to get people talking. Halton police have an online form you can use to report any of those driving behaviours. The offending drivers can get a warning in the mail from police and if the pattern continues, police will visit the driver in person or they could even start watching the driver to catch them in a violation.
