Sebastião Salgado is an acclaimed and decorated photographer and photojournalist who has captured some of the world’s most stunning scenes on film. His life and work serves as the inspiration for Wim Wender’s new documentary The Salt of the Earth, which garnered an Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary last year. The film was a family affair as his son, Juliano Ribeiro Salgado, actually co-directed alongside Wenders.

We sat down with Sebastião to learn what it was like for him being in front of the camera for a change.
