Room is an intensely emotional drama about 5 year old Jack (Jacob Tremblay) who was born to a young woman held captive in a garden shed for seven years. When the pair escape, Jack explores a whole new world while his Ma must re-adjust to one she thought would never see again.  The Irish-Canadian co-production was shot in Toronto and features some familiar landmarks.

The film premiered at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival and won the Grolsch People’s Choice Award for best film, giving it a leg up in the upcoming awards season.

We sat down with director Lenny Abrahamson, author and screenwriter Emma Donoghue, and stars Brie Larson and Joan Allen at TIFF to talk about the film.
