It’s hard to pinpoint exactly who the last great and notable “scream queen” was. Some might say Neve Campbell or Sarah Michelle Gellar fit the bill in the 90s. Others might go back to Jamie Lee Curtis’ classic performances in the Halloween franchise. But there is no doubt that Maika Monroe is the new queen ascending the horror throne. With roles in cult hits like The Guest and It Follows, Monroe is one to watch for genre fans in the years ahead.

We caught up with Maika at TIFF to talk about It Follows and what sets it apart from the rest of the horror pack.
