James White, from first time feature director Josh Mond, is the newest feature from Borderline Films, the New York based company founded by filmmakers Antonio Campos, Sean Durkin, and Mond. The trio met while at NYU’s Tisch Film School and, after graduating, set up their production company which saw them rotate through the roles of writer, director, and producer. Durkin was the first to direct and made quite the splash with his debut feature Martha Marcy May Marlene in 2011. Campos followed a year later with another critically praised film, Simon Killer, and now Mond finally takes his turn at the helm.

We sat down with the director during TIFF to talk about the personal nature of the project.
