Boy choirs are nothing new. The Vienna Boys’ Choir for example was started way back in 1498 and still performs to this day. Unfortunately, preteen boys’ hobbies have changed quite a lot in that time and choirs aren’t as popular as they used to be. But Canadian director François Girard didn’t let that sway him from making his latest film, appropriately titled Boychoir, which he debuted last year at TIFF.

We talked to Girard and his leading boy Garrett Wareing about the film and choirs at large.
