Eviction deadline passes quietly

A midnight eviction deadline has come and gone, but Toronto police didn’t take any action to clear the Occupy Toronto camp.

Some protesters started packing up their tents and gear, while others built barricades, expecting the worst at midnight.

While police kept a close watch, they did *not* act on Monday’s court decision that upheld the city’s eviction notice.

The park can still be used by the Occupy movement, just not between the hours of midnight and 5am and without tents or other structures.

Some activists say they think police will likely wait for numbers to dwindle, before moving in.
