Emergency crews rescue dog from house fire in Crystal Beach

Emergency crews resuscitated a dog after it was rescued from a fire in Crystal Beach Thursday afternoon.
Fort Erie Fire and Niagara police responded just after 2:30 p.m. to a home on Schooley Road for reports of a fire.
There were no people inside at the time, but crews discovered one dog and one cat and removed them from the home.
The dog was resuscitated by first responders, but unfortunately, the cat died.
The town says the damage is extensive and is likely valued at more than $100,000.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.

It was the second fire in the area for the day after crews were also called to a structure fire at a Fort Erie countertop business near the intersection of Michener and Point Albion roads.
Footage from the incident shows Jia Mei Custom Countertops with its roof caved in and large plumes of smoke spilling out from the business.
