Elevator technicians return to work

Striking elevator technicians are expected to be back on the job today. The Ontario Labour Relations Board says two local union branches must now instruct members in the GTA and Barrie to follow work orders at apartments, condo buildings and residential construction sites.
On Friday, the board cited a section of the labour relations act that puts a six-week limit on residential strikes in the two areas.
Roughly fourteen-thousand elevator and escalator technicians walked off the job on May 1st, but only 800 of them are required to return to work under the consent order.
