Eighteen teams from the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board spent Saturday designing robots out of Lego to improve interactions between people and animals is the theme of this year’s First Lego League’s (F.L.L) Hamilton qualifier.

The event is geared toward elementary students with a goal to create fun and imaginative ways of using science, technology, engineering and math.

This year’s mission was called “Animal Allies” which organizers said challenges teams to improve interactions between people and animals.

The top three teams from this event will advance to the provincial F.L.L competition in February at the University of Waterloo.
